It's m-fing hot in here.
I now really want to read "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things" by JT LeRoy. And then see the movie. Summer Storm, 12 and Holding, Full Grown Men, Just Like the Son, and Down in the Valley all look really good. I'm also really excited about X3, but that's far too dorky to discuss in the same paragraph as all those other artsy, meaningful films.
As for the weekend, it was pretty uneventful, but not horrible.
Friday, I was sick (sinus infection-type thing). After dinner I watched Hedwig and the Angry Inch with Christina, Channing, Maya, and Rachel. It was fun. Later, Abby, Maya, and I watched Super Sweet Sixteen in Chapin, waiting around for Zeke and Ian to stop playing video games. Needless to say, we were wasting our time as they never did. We were frustrated. Emperor X played C-haus and they were good but their set was not long enough. Sat in French House, ate jelly beans, and watched MTV until we were really tired and went to bed (at some really lame time like 2).
Saturday, I got pretty much nothing done (I had three essays, assigned at the start of this semester, to write by Monday for Art History). I was pretty cranky all day. Maya was ten times more cranky than me. We threw ourselves about the room a lot. Rachel got us to go on a walk in the dreary, drizzley night. It was actually really nice. We walked down to the cemetery and walked down some of the paths in the cemetery until Maya and I got a little spooked, and we came back home. People went to this jazz thing and this movie thing, while I sat in our room and listened to awesome music and talked to Andrew and got out of my funk. Sally, Maya, and I got dressed up for the Alliance Fetish Ball (as a pregnant woman, a cowgirl, and a nun, respectively). We met up with Abby, Chris, Ian, and Sam and meandered over to the party. It was kinda weird and there were partially naked people there. Tom was speaking to everyone in different languages (he speaks something like 5 or 6). Pretty much all he said in English was yelling "Get Naked!" He made Ian and Chris take off their shirts. Tenley, Ben, Diana, and Emily showed up. Some awkward things happened to various members of our party. Went to Blue House, but it wasn't too exciting. Sat outside for a while. Sat in Chapin for a while. Everybody wanted to go to bed. Maya, Sam, Sally, and I came back to our room and hung out. Sally fell asleep immediately. Maya lay on the floor with a towel over her head for a while and then watched dance videos. Sam and I lay around on Maya's bed and talked about nothing in particular. Around 5am we decided maybe it was a good time to go to bed.
Sunday, I wrote my 3 essays. Exciting. We made dinner in French House, which was fun. That was pretty much the only excitement of the day.
I have two take home exams that I think I get Wednesday (Art and Russian History). Art is due Saturday. Russian is due Monday. I have my Rock History exam Wednesday. I want to be done by Friday night, Sunday at the latest. I know this is dreadfully exciting to hear about, but I'm trying to motivate myself.
On a slightly more exciting, I got into all my classes for next year!
English 190: Heroes, Gods & Fools--MWF 1-2pm and TH 12-1pm
Interdisciplinary Studies 230: Emperor of Ice Cream (basically a film class)--MTWF 12-1pm
Politics 160: International Politics--MWF 9-10am and T 8-9am
Biology 110: Human Biology--MWF 10-12pm
O Summer! Why dost thou linger at such a distance? How is it thou seemed nearer yesterday?

Date: 2006-05-06 06:14 am (UTC)That's really weird. Over break one of the guidance counselors told me there were actually a hand full of MLK kids looking at Beloit. It's kinda weird.
