So, I'm moved in, my rooms almost cleaned up, and I already despise almost all of my classes. I'm dropping Theater. Women/Diplomacy/Citizenship is basically a Women's Studies class, and seeing how I can't stand Women's Studies...well, it's awful. Slavery and Abolition looks like it has the potential not to majorly suck. American War in Vietnam, however, is wonderful so far. I'm really looking forward to it. Logic might kick my ass later on, but it's easy enough now and Matt Tedesco is ADORABLE.
Socially, it's been slightly weird, but getting better. I'm not as much of a sad sack as I originally feared I would be. Fun things have happened, they out weigh the annoying and bad by a lot. Pound of beef (not nearly as epic as last time), grocery shopping, costumed bike rides, setting up the lounge, guitar hero, 4am gossip, etc.

They're potentially giving me a costuming panel at Geek Kon in October. I am v. excited.

Escape pod is go.

Let's see how noisy this is and if I can be quiet enough to not bother my sleeping roommate. I think I can be.

Classes:
Sociology is big. Ben and KO are in it. I love Carey as well as the subject of religion+politics+society, so I think it'll be good, despite large amounts of reading.

Intro to Programming is huge. It looks easy enough. I have to find someone to work with in that class who I will not kill, and it doesn't look good. The professor is dorky.

East Asian Educational History (also ginormous) has the potential to be awesome, but also to be heinously boring. I hope LaFleur will live up to his hype and it won't be like Rousseau, on and on about the diets of wet nurses for three huge pages.

Journalism is going to be incredible. Favorite professor and a few of my favorite people (Ben, Jameson, Nan, and Nate). Kinda big class is the only problem, but people, generally, seem to be intelligent and good at discussing things more or less constructively.

I have gotten myself involved in some sort of independent study thing which involves making a graphic novel about 9/11 conspiracy theories with Mike and Nate. I get to draw it. I hope I'm up to it and don't just suck horribly all over the place. I'm excited, but really heinously nervous. Shit.

On top of all these reading intensive classes and having to draw two pages of comic every week, I hope to get my radio show back on Friday afternoons again. Applications have yet to come out.

I'm going to die this semester.

And now enjoy this video of Nate snorting Crest toothpaste off a refrigerator. )

Goodnight.

I need to remember to not scratch the inside of my nose when I'm sitting on my desk, cause people in the hallway can see me and will totally think I'm picking my nose. I'm going to draw a diagram of my room in MS paint, because I have no camera.

Room? )

Classes are good, I guess. International Politics will be good. Bio is a little scary and I don't know anyone in the class, but oh well. The film class will be awesome, as long as it doesn't get too pretentious. English looks interesting and fun.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays= 9am-10am International Politics
10am-12pm Human Biology
12pm-1pm Film
1pm-2pm English
Tuesdays= 12pm-1pm Film
Thursdays= 12pm-1pm English (but not always)

I'm really glad to see everyone. I can't wait to hang out with people, weekend-style. It's going to take a little adjusting to not being around a whole bunch of geeks with a different definition of what's neat. I miss you guys a lot. I need to distract Veronica from her work more often so I can make her dork out with me occasionally.

I'm pretty sure this diet coke's date is jul2406. Can diet coke go bad? It's not flat, though not exceptionally fizzy. What the hell?

During our floor meeting last night it was discovered that two first-years were goin' at it with the blinds partially open in the dorm next to ours. It was scary. Then we went over to visit Chris, Ian, and Zeke. They were dancing to reggae music when we got there and Ian was eating a big glob of icing off of a spoon. What weird kids.

I kind of just want to sleep until winter break.

It's m-fing hot in here.

I now really want to read "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things" by JT LeRoy. And then see the movie. Summer Storm, 12 and Holding, Full Grown Men, Just Like the Son, and Down in the Valley all look really good. I'm also really excited about X3, but that's far too dorky to discuss in the same paragraph as all those other artsy, meaningful films.

As for the weekend, it was pretty uneventful, but not horrible.
Friday, I was sick (sinus infection-type thing). After dinner I watched Hedwig and the Angry Inch with Christina, Channing, Maya, and Rachel. It was fun. Later, Abby, Maya, and I watched Super Sweet Sixteen in Chapin, waiting around for Zeke and Ian to stop playing video games. Needless to say, we were wasting our time as they never did. We were frustrated. Emperor X played C-haus and they were good but their set was not long enough. Sat in French House, ate jelly beans, and watched MTV until we were really tired and went to bed (at some really lame time like 2).

Saturday, I got pretty much nothing done (I had three essays, assigned at the start of this semester, to write by Monday for Art History). I was pretty cranky all day. Maya was ten times more cranky than me. We threw ourselves about the room a lot. Rachel got us to go on a walk in the dreary, drizzley night. It was actually really nice. We walked down to the cemetery and walked down some of the paths in the cemetery until Maya and I got a little spooked, and we came back home. People went to this jazz thing and this movie thing, while I sat in our room and listened to awesome music and talked to Andrew and got out of my funk. Sally, Maya, and I got dressed up for the Alliance Fetish Ball (as a pregnant woman, a cowgirl, and a nun, respectively). We met up with Abby, Chris, Ian, and Sam and meandered over to the party. It was kinda weird and there were partially naked people there. Tom was speaking to everyone in different languages (he speaks something like 5 or 6). Pretty much all he said in English was yelling "Get Naked!" He made Ian and Chris take off their shirts. Tenley, Ben, Diana, and Emily showed up. Some awkward things happened to various members of our party. Went to Blue House, but it wasn't too exciting. Sat outside for a while. Sat in Chapin for a while. Everybody wanted to go to bed. Maya, Sam, Sally, and I came back to our room and hung out. Sally fell asleep immediately. Maya lay on the floor with a towel over her head for a while and then watched dance videos. Sam and I lay around on Maya's bed and talked about nothing in particular. Around 5am we decided maybe it was a good time to go to bed.

Sunday, I wrote my 3 essays. Exciting. We made dinner in French House, which was fun. That was pretty much the only excitement of the day.

I have two take home exams that I think I get Wednesday (Art and Russian History). Art is due Saturday. Russian is due Monday. I have my Rock History exam Wednesday. I want to be done by Friday night, Sunday at the latest. I know this is dreadfully exciting to hear about, but I'm trying to motivate myself.

On a slightly more exciting, I got into all my classes for next year!
English 190: Heroes, Gods & Fools--MWF 1-2pm and TH 12-1pm
Interdisciplinary Studies 230: Emperor of Ice Cream (basically a film class)--MTWF 12-1pm
Politics 160: International Politics--MWF 9-10am and T 8-9am
Biology 110: Human Biology--MWF 10-12pm

O Summer! Why dost thou linger at such a distance? How is it thou seemed nearer yesterday?

I need to go shower....
more upon my return.

12:48am
Okay.
I'm seriously thinking that I should have washed my hair...I guess I'll wash it tomorrow after I finish editing my paper...which is a complete train-wreak. ARGH.

Everyone's kinda stressed out this week, so weird stuff is happening. So weird, in fact, that Sarah asked me if I was drunk last night and had called her. I told her she probably just caught me during my two hour jaunt of fun with Beth, Jill, and Veronica. It started at dinner when Beth told of her crappy day, which involved writing two sentences of her essay, discovering that she had two copies of the same book even though they had completely different titles, and unintentional rocking chair acrobatics. We laughed about everything. It also didn't help that Sarah was constantly zoned out of our conversation and kept on mishearing things ("What'd you say about a drunken fetus?"). After dinner, Jill and Beth drew on their faces with a red marker, called it "war paint", made me a sign that said "Fire", and proceeded to run to different locations on campus to terrorize various people. Sadly, I had to go to class.
Today, weirdness continued with excessive amounts of time spent frolicking with Jill. Then tonight I talked to Evan and Jake in the stairwell for about fifteen minutes. It started out as a conversation about doing homework, then went from deciding how much rope we could make out of my hair (20 ft?), how we could now bust Jake out of prison, to Cops, crazy inmates trying to kill themselves, cartoons, death, and what Hunter S. Thompson's last thoughts were. It ended with Jackson tossing popcorn down the stairs into Evan's mouth. I had suddenly gone into a bout of depression due to my friends' drama about half an hour before, so that all helped me get out of the funk. I love having male friends.

In other news, I turned in my registration card today. Hopefully:
HIST 210 Russian Revolutions MTWF 12-12:50
MUS 127 Rock History and American Culture MW 2-3:50
ART 120 Art History Survey I MWF 10-10:50 T 11-11:50
DANC 117 Jazz I TTH 1-2:50
I also really wanted to take American Constitutional Law (don't laugh), but it's a 9:00 class and I haven't had to get up before 9:30 this semester...Grrr.

I need to recruit for the opening of GOF. Veronica and I need a James and a Peter (we're Remus and Sirius, respectively), and we already have a Severus (Kelsey!). Also, am thinking about putting in an appearance at anime club on Friday, must remember I <3 Yaoi shirt for the occasion.

So.
College is fun.
I thought I missed my first history class Tuesday, but it didn't meet then. Then, I did miss it Wednesday. Uhg.
Classes! )

We did this one really weird thing in theater the other day where we closed our eyes and were assigned a random partner and had to spend forever feeling their hands. Then we were all mixed up and had to find our partner just by feeling peoples hands...it was weird. A bunch of people messed up and thought they'd found their partner, but hadn't. My partner and I did not screw up because we're awesome. So there. Now I have to figure out a song to mime for class on Tuesday. This will be embarrassing. I'm thinking Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

FRAT PARTY TONIGHT. At the nice frat, as opposed to the scary frat and the geeky frat....yeah, whatever.

I got Jonathan a present at the Salvation Army today. I got myself a ring. And I got a black t-shirt that says in red "I'm the Christian the Devil Warned You About." Who wants it? Tell me and I'll mail it to you.

Last night we watched Happiness which was depressing...but hilarious. Then we went to Java Joint, I played pinball for a long time and fell asleep on a couch while watching CNN. We got back at 2amish. (Amish?) We formed a gang in which you have to wear someone else's coat and a hat of some sort.
Gang and the dorm )

Two of Sarah's friends from Kentucky came up for the weekend. They're boys *eeek!* ...just kidding. Who wants to come visit me!?!? XD

I should probably do some homework, though I really don't have any...I need to read more postmodernist jargon. They suck.

Oh yeah, we're going to try and have a radio show, which will be awesome. I need to finish the application... :/
