....Shit. I just lost all of what I had typed. It was long. I'll try to reproduce it.

I had to delete my Kerry icon. But I will always have one political icon at all times.

A friend emailed me pictures of happy Iraqi children with soldiers and women with signs thanking America and Bush. We're on opposite sides of the issue of the war. She believes it was necessary. I believe it was not. No, I'm not unpatriotic. I don't disrespect what our soldiers are doing. I'm telling them I think they didn't have to go over there to die in the first place. My friend said, in so many words: "See, it's not that bad after all!" Well, it's bad for the 1,218 who are currently dead. They're dead. That's it. No more. Most of them are really young, 20-30ish. I know that some of them died defending their country, but some of them didn't. I know at least one of those 1,218 thought Bush had fucked up as much as 49% of America thinks. And what about the estimated 10,000 Iraqi civilians that have been killed? They didn't even ask us to come over there and impose our brand of democracy. Yeah, Saddam was bad, but would you really want the country that fucked you over by putting him in charge to come in and try to fix it? I think I'd rather a truly international, diplomatic body to try and work things out before the bomb button is pushed. What was the purpose of this war? To uncover weapons of mass destruction that never existed.

To draw a historical parallel to the "imposing democracy" issue, take the reign of Joseph II of Austria. He ruled for 10 years total. He abolished serfdom, created freedom of the press and religion (accept for a few radical sects he thought too stupid). For the first time in Europe Jews were treated as equals. The clergy and nobles had their roles lessened to where they also were subject to the same laws and taxes as the rest of Austria's citizens. Everyone was stunned at these reforms. The peasants were glad they were no longer serfs, but they wanted people like the clergy and nobles to look up to. They were not prepared for such a radical change in the government they had lived under forever. Point: The Iraqis have been living under a brutal dictatorship for quite sometime, I highly doubt they're ready for such a liberal form of government as democracy. These people haven't been able to make their own decisions in the last [insert number of years of Saddam's rule, which I could look up but am too lazy to do so] years, so of course they'll be able to handle a US brand of democracy! Insurgents? We'll run 'em out of the town they're in now so we can go run 'em out of the next place they decide to insurge in.

Bush is the man who created the best recruitment tactic for all these American-hating groups in the Middle East. He had us start a war with a Muslim nation [97%].
Us.
The Land of the Free.
What the hell are we doing?
What are we doing?
What are we doing to ourselves, our children, the children of the world?
Our government won't even save the fucking Environment. We only get on Earth, people. After this that's it. No more. Zip. Nada. Like all those dead soldiers I talked about earlier.

Gone.

I don't want to live in a future made of nothing.

Think about it, guys.
