Me? Sleepy? NO! NEVER!
Jun. 13th, 2004 11:38 pmI....I can't feel my right leg. I'm beginning to worry as this has been going on for quite a while. It's freaking me out man. I'm going to go put on pjs, perhaps this will allow my leg a bit of room.
Okay. I'm back....with shorts on instead of pants. Big change. And my leg still feels funny.
Tragedy of tragedies.
I'm going to kill Jonathan.
Why?
Because he is mean....but funny.
(just FYI: I don't have cable tv, just the basic 8 channels)
SpamBoy999: ack! Serial Experiments Lain is on
SpamBoy999: it hurts!
NamariKarasuSama: WHERE!?
SpamBoy999: tech tv
SpamBoy999: why ask? In case it was on PBS?
NamariKarasuSama: ...........
NamariKarasuSama: I hate you.
SpamBoy999: Frontline: Anime in America
SpamBoy999: "here we see a young man who's world was rocked by Serial Experiments Lain"
SpamBoy999: "What...what the hell was that!? The world is reset? God is a program...and...BLARG!"
SpamBoy999: "It was later learned that at that moment, his brain imploded"
SpamBoy999: that'll probably be an episode, eventually
NamariKarasuSama: oh probably
SpamBoy999: though it would probably be a more generic "cultural exchange"
SpamBoy999: we give them craters, they give us Akira
SpamBoy999: it all makes sense
So, anyway.
We've been having big storms here. Not fun.
Oh, as to what I've been wanting to say about POA, it's behind the cut.
So, yeah. I still like it, it's just, now that the initial giddiness of seeing it at midnight with all the other geeks has subsided, I'm able to view it as just another movie.
(Ahrg. I'm going to lose my train of thought because I'm having to pay attention to Jonathan's detailed report about how he's slipping out of his chair little by little.)
Okay, anyway. POA....Harry Potter...Fan service. That's all that movie provides, besides awesome visuals and comedy, I think that's why I still like it. Kinda like Queen of the Damned. Wait, not like Queen of the Damned. That wasn't only a horrible adaptation of Anne Rice's book, it was just plain horrible as a movie. So, lets see. It was a good movie and a fair adaptation of the book, but it lacked certain points that made me love that book above all the others. I love Remus and Sirius. The book gives so much background on them and there is little to no info in the film. Aside from the fact that I think they cast about 10 years too old for the roles of Severus, Remus, and Sirius (trust me, I love Alan Rickman and I think that he, Thewlis, and Oldman all did smashing jobs), there's just something wrong with the portrayal of them in the film. Severus doesn't get nearly enough screen time, there are a few things added to Remus's character that I don't really like/think are appropriate, and Sirius wasn't as developed as he seemed to be in the book (even though he isn't in it for very long). Now I'm a bit frustrated because that's the best explanation I can give of what I want to say, but it's not really all I want to say on the subject, oh well. I tried.
And now for something pitiful. If anyone reading this hasn't read the 5th book (which Chelsea now has!!!eeee!!!!Oh, and by the way, my mom finished GoF last night!), don't read on.
Okay.
I had just read someone's essay on Mugglenet.com about how Sirius was supposed to be helpful to Harry in death, like his parents and Cedric were, and so, logically, I was wandering around fretting thinking, "So what if he's really gone? He really is just gone. He's not coming back. Ever. That's it. He's dead." Then I went to POA that evening with my mom. At the end when Sirius is telling Harry that "the ones who love us don't really leave us" but live on in our hearts, I nearly cried. It was sad. I told Ann and she just laughed at me like she did when I cried about Boromir dying the 7th time we were watching FOTR in the theater. I have mean friends. Oh well.
Enough of this rambling.
