"Is douche a sense?"
Jan. 1st, 2011 07:26 pmChristmas was great. My mom got me bees and soap for people in South and Central America. Jonathan came home and we hung out a lot and watched things like Equilibrium, Twilight: Eclipse (with Rifftrax), and True Grit. We finally got to go to Yolos, which we had made fun of many a time, and it was quite tasty. It was a good time.
New Years was nice. Elizabeth and I went to The End with Caitlin, Becca, and Dan. Then she and I went with Andrew to the Hilton where the wedding party he was in had a balcony view of downtown. We got there ten minutes before midnight and rang in the new year with fireworks, bubbles, and beer. It was classy.
Now I need to get all ready for Paul and Rowan to stay here and at least get a third of the way done with the baby blanket for Lucas before the shower Saturday.
Here's a survey I did a few days ago and then forgot about. How like life.
1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
LARPed. It was awesome.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't remember making any. This year only has one: get fit.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but Nick's gonna have a baby early this coming year. I needs to get crocheting.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
Le sigh.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
My own place not in Nashville.
7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
DADT being repealed was awesome, but I won't lie, probably July 18th when Nate and I went to that Maiden show.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Visiting so many people. Getting semi-involved in the local LGBT scene.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not moving forward. Also, not buying Mumford and Sons tickets the minute they went on sale.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing bad.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Fancy camera!
14. Where did most of your money go?
Clothes :(
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Maiden.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
The Cave by Mumford and Sons
Compared to this time last year, are you:
17. Thinner or fatter? Fatter :(
18. Richer or poorer? Probably poorer.
19. What do you wish you'd done more of? Traveling.
20. What do you wish you'd done less of? Staring at screens.
21. How will you be spending Christmas? Went to Grandmother's, came home.
22. Did you fall in love in 2010? Yes, with Rachel Maddow.
24. What was your favorite TV program? Arrested Development or Strangers with Candy (I rewatched both a few times).
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? A number of political bigots. I'm also really unhappy with Jon Stewart.
26. What was the best book you read? The Value of Nothing by Raj Patel
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Mumford and Sons
28. What did you want and get? Seeing friends
29. What did you want and not get? Living with friends
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Incept--BRRRMMMMMMM.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I think Elizabeth and I got a pint of ice cream and shared it while watching The A-Team. I turned 23.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Making more friends or moving away.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010? I tried to dress more Post-Apocalyptic, but didn't go as overboard as I should have.
34. What kept you sane? Fandom.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Jake Gyllenhaal or Richard Engel.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? DADT, probably.
37. Who did you miss? College friends and Jonathan.
38. Who was the best new person you met? Laura, a girl I met through softball this spring.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Oh and pestilence is won when you are lost and I am gone
And no hope, no hope will overcome
And if your strife strikes at your sleep
Remember spring swaps snow for leaves
You'll be happy and wholesome again
When the city clears and sun ascends
